We also made sure you get the easiest solution to the issues. So read on to know common problems, their causes, and solution to them all.

Common Geyser Problems And Their Solutions

Problem: 1 Dripping Geyser

Dripping Geyser

To begin with the most common geyser problems, nothing could have been more common than the dripping issue.

10 out of 8 customer issues include this one, and knowing if it is actually an issue or a tiny malfunction is essential.

You should know that a few drops are quite normal, and you don’t really need to worry. It won’t affect its overall working, and you can enjoy hot water with ease.

But if your geyser has a constant dripping, the issue needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

Water dripping out of geysers is usually due to leakage in the overflow pipe of the geyser. It is attached explicitly to the geyser for controlling the water pressure of the valve.

The only possible solution to this issue is to change the overflow pipe. If you are not sure where to begin, it is advisable to consult a geyser technician.

The steady water flow needs to be stopped, so make sure you consult an expert without wasting a lot of time.

Problem: 2 Overheated Water

Overheated Water

There is no best feeling in the world other than a perfect warm water bath after a long tiring day. But getting overheated water all of a sudden more frequently can be extremely annoying.

This issue won’t just be harmful to your skin but also to the geyser. It can explode as well, so it is mandatory to take care of it before any severe casualties.

It is generally because of the excessively high temperature and pressure inside the geyser. This happens when you constantly keep changing the water temperature.

This may lead to the explosion over time and fault in the thermostat.

It is a dangerous issue and needs to be fixed immediately. What you can do immediately is switch off the geyser and call the geyser technician for the same.

This is the only way, as the technical issues can lead to severe problems in the future when solved without knowing the mechanism accurately.

Problem: 3 No water heating

No water heating

Sometimes the water coming out of the geyser can just be cold, and you wonder why you even paid for a geyser in the first place. Well, it is a machine and can get sick sometimes.

No, you don’t need to let it rest, just a bit of attention, and get it a technician. This is quite a common problem in small-sized geysers and older geyser models.

The part of the geyser often becomes loose over time or starts rusting. This affects the overall mechanism and leads to less or no water heating.

But if this happens in a new geyser, it could be because of improper or faulty wiring. Also, this can happen if you have a defective power supply.

So know what the actual cause of the issue is before you jump to any conclusion.

If this is happening in a new geyser, make sure you consult the manufacturer and get it replaced.

If you are over the warranty period, you can replace the entire rusted part or loose part of the water geyser. So check the circuit breaker on the main distribution and see if it looked similar to when you bought it,

You can reset the circuit breaker to check if the problem is in the power connection.

Problem: 4 Constant water leakage through the ceiling

Constant water leakage through the ceiling

If you see a constant water flow even after the switch is off, it means leakage. Your geyser probably might have a small burst, or a significant leak is developed that needs to be fixed.

Leakage of water leads to a lot of water wastage and electricity, and we can afford none due to water scarcity around the globe.

Constant water leakage often happens due to issues in the drip tray and overflow system copping timing.

The overflow pipe and the dripping tray won’t keep up with leaks developed around the pipe, which leads to water leakage.

To begin with, switch off the geyser as soon as you notice the leak and call your plumber. If there is a lot of leakages all of a sudden, switch off both electricity and the main water tap to curb the flow.

Make sure the plumber you are calling knows about your apartment’s plumbing system. If not, keep the map ready so he can fix the issue as soon as possible.

Problems: 5 Geyser does not turn on or off

Geyser does not turn on or off

Mornings can be a rush, and you switch your geyser on just to realize later it wasn’t on. That’s one of the most common issues for most people.

This needs to be fixed, as you can’t keep wasting your time.

It usually happens because of two reasons, loose wiring or power supply issues.

Geyser also does not turn on if the water level is low. Some models do show the issue, but most do not.

Also, it is often due to overheated geyser. Your geyser might not turn on if the water is overheated.

Since the reasons could be various, it is advisable to consult an expert who can quickly examine the situation and fix it.

All you can do before that is check the power supply, wiring, and water level if all of a sudden the geyser just stops working.

If your geyser works on cells or batteries, check that too.

Problem: 6 Bad Water Odor

Bad Water Odor

Although not a very common geyser issue, this too can be pretty daunting.

An unpleasant odor coming from a water geyser means there is something fishy in there, which needs to be cleaned sonnish.

Many people often confused smelly geyser water with a dirty water supply. So don’t ignore it that way. You just might be going wrong this time.

Smelly geyser water can be because of the accumulation of bacterias formed in hot water.

When the geyser is at a lower temperature or not in use for a longer duration, it may develop bacterias that get mixed easily with hot water.

Hence, water coming out of the geyser might have a that bad smell.

The best part is it’s easy to get rid of.

All you have to do is, increase the geyser water temperature to the highest it can be for 24 hours.

Run water through the tap, and flush out the water in the pipes. That’s all, and the bacterias will be gone for good.

To avoid this in the future, make sure whenever the geyser is not in use, run the hot water through pipes before you start using it.

Problem: 7 Decreased hot water pressure

Decreased hot water pressure

Lower water pressure can be extremely irritating, especially when you are running late.

Sometimes it could be because of less water in the water tank; other times, it is just your geyser.

When it is, know that you can fix it with ease.

Since the water pressure is decreased and not the heating pressure, it is because of the accumulation of dirt in the pipes and valves.

Dirty valves and pipes can restrict the water flow, which eventually results in lower water pressure.

Even older geyser models have this issue due to the overall mechanism.

If you have an older geyser model with 100kPa, you can replace it with a geyser up to 600kPa.

If you have a geyser model of more than 100kPa, clean your valves and pipes.

This will not just help you have perfect water pressure; you will easily able to manage cold and hot water temperature.

Problem: 8 Hard Water deposits

Hard Water deposits

Using hard water has way more cons than its pros, and your geyser functioning isn’t an exception.

If you are using hard water for a longer duration now, you will notice the lowered water heating capacity and even the water flow.

This is because hard water deposits, the white substance that you notice around the tap, will be accumulated at the bottom of the tank, valves, and pipes.

This won’t happen in a day or two, but after years of using hard water and the same geyser.

The easiest possible solution to this issue is to install a water softener.

To get rid of the accumulated hard water deposits, open and clean your geyser once a year. If the heating is affected, call the plumber and get it solved.

Problem: 9 Frequent electric shocks during switching off and on

Frequent electric shocks during switching off and on

To end the list of the most common geyser issues, we have the most severe issue you should not ignore. Safety is our first priority, and shocks can be too dangerous.

If you experience a shock while switching off or switching on the water geyser, be alert and never let your kids be around it before you solve it.

This usually happens due to bad earthing.

Also, this occurs when the issue is in the heating element.

If the heating element cracks, it transfers the shock into the water as well. This needs to be solved as you never want to risk your life.

First of all, turn the geyser off, and move away from it immediately. Not just that, turn off the power supply to avoid severe casualties.

Check your earthing as well and call the professional to fix the issue.

Problem: 10 Noisy Heater

Noisy Heater

Noise coming from the geyser means more significant problems that you should not ignore. When your geyser makes a rumbling and popping noise that gradually keeps on increasing can lead to faults in the geyser.

This is not just irritating but dangerous as well, and you likely should not ignore that.

This usually happens when the dirt in the water or the sediments accumulate in the tank, valves, or pipes.

This usually happens during the water is boiled and can just get stuck in your tap, restricting water flow. This leads to further issues you likely want to avoid.

Since it caught your attention, you can fix it with ease.

Simply flush the water into the tank to get rid of the noise. Also, if there is a whirring sound, you will have to clean the entire tank to get rid of the waste.
