How To Clean A Washing Machine Drain?

Sooner or later, the owner of the LG washing machine must clean the drainpipe with his own hands. It is no secret that wastewater, which passes from the barrel to the sewer system, leaves waste particles and soap on the parts of the machine. The rubber walls of the nozzles are no exception to the rule and over time, a thick sticky layer accumulates here, threatening a serious blockage. There is only one way out – regularly remove the accumulated dirt. How to do this, we learn from the article.

Removal of the pipe

To clean the drainpipe of the LG washing machine, it must be disconnected from the body of the machine and the sewer. This is not difficult to do: just unplug the machine, turn it back on, leaning against the wall and pay attention to the bottom. We cover the space with rags, open the technical hatch, carefully turn the leak sensor and find the installation location of the rubber tube. Weaken the clamp and pull the hose on itself.

It is recommended to clean the drain filter and pump-turbine at the same time as the hose.

The second end is even easier to detach. We find where the gum joins the siphon or sewer column, weaken the clamp and release the tube. The dismantling is complete and you can start cleaning the pipe.

Description of the cleaning process

Hurry to take water and soap is not worth it: it is best to carefully inspect the removed pipe first. Before you start cleaning, make sure the rubber is proper and, if the hull is damaged, you will need to replace it. Otherwise, unpleasant surprises with leaks await later.

You can remove most of the dirt by running an hour of washing with soda and vinegar.

The cleaning itself is done using a special non-metallic Kevlar cable. A small brush is provided on its end, which cleans the accumulated soap deposits. To do this, just follow a few simple steps.

  1. Insert the device into the hose and, when moving back and forth, clean the dirt layer from the tube walls.
  2. Repeat several times until you get the best clean.
  3. Rinse the hose under high pressure.

Instead of a Kevlar cable, a handcrafted analog is fine: fold one end of a long steel wire with a buckle and wrap a piece of fabric all around. The main thing is that the “brush” corresponds to the diameter of the tube. At the same time, the cleaning process does not differ – we insert, clean, rinse.

What causes the hose to be blocked?

The clogging of the hose is almost inevitable: the detergent and the stuffed clothing will begin to settle on the walls of the tube. Such a blockage is considered natural for all washing machines, regardless of their manufacturer and model. However, it is possible to slow down the plate formation process if the following recommendations are applied in practice:

  • Wash clothes in special protective bags
  • Don’t neglect water softeners
  • After washing, start an “empty” cycle to wash the machine;
  • Clean the washer regularly

It is recommended that the washing machine be thoroughly cleaned at least once every three months.

  • Use high-quality detergents designed specifically for automatic machines
  • Before loading into the drum, check the pockets, shake the hair and dust the fabric.

To remove a drain pipe and rid it of accumulated dirt – in 5 minutes. The key is to act with caution, with confidence and in accordance with the instructions.
