After embedding the sensor, Eversense measures your blood sugar levels with the help of interstitial fluids present inside your skin. The machine then sends the information to your smartphone every 5 minutes. The main difference between monitors with finger pricking and Eversense is that you only have to prick your finger once every 90 days. 

Eversense should be set up at a doctor’s office, where the doctor will insert the subcutaneous device inside your skin. The sensor works for 90 days, so you have to replace it with a new one every 3 months. It can be a little problematic if you don’t visit your doctor very often. 



Freestyle Libre 2 is another type of CGM that also monitors your blood sugar levels with the help of interstitial fluids. It was developed by the brand Abbott. 

Freestyle Libre 2 is an advanced version of its previous model, Freestyle Libre, with some extra essential features. This monitor works with a sensor that you wear on your upper arm every 14 days. To check your vitals, you have to wave the monitor in front of the sensor. It can also work through your smartphone if the Freestyle Libre app is compatible with it. 

The first version of this product, i.e., the Freestyle Libre, lacked the feature of alarms that rings when your sugar levels are high or low. But the Freestyle Libre 2 comes with this great feature of alarms which is beneficial for your health. 

This device comes with a 14-day free trial which includes the training session. There is also a third version of this product currently present in European Nations. Their website states that your insurance can cover 60$ per month cost of running this device. 



Dexcom G6 CGM is intended to take the help of other essential diabetic devices such as insulin pumps, dosing meters, etc., to run. 

Dexcom comes with a sensor that you have to apply just underneath the surface of your skin in the abdominal area. It is a wash-proof sensor. The sensor then sends the glucose levels to a smart device such as a smartphone, tablet, watch, etc. Dexcom comes with transmitters and sensors, which have a life of 90 days and 10 days, respectively. Some users of Dexcom have mentioned how hectic it is to change the sensor every 10 days. 

Various consumers of Dexcom have stated that the results are as accurate as finger pricking machines. 



Noviosense is a different type of Sugar Level checker compared to the previous ones mentioned in this article. This device measures glucose levels with the help of tear fluids. 

Noviosense comes with a metal coil that is flexible and is covered with a layer of hydrogel. The glucose oxidase enzyme is present inside the hydrogel, which is the same enzyme used in sugar blood tests. When the glucose touches the coil, the present enzyme inside produces a signal. This signal is picked up by the nanosensor present inside the coil. The sensor then transmits the glucose levels to the smartphone connected to the coil. 

This non-invasive technology is proven as efficient as Freestyle Libre.
